Yesterday I spoke at the Revenue Management Associ

Yesterday I spoke at the Revenue Management Association AGM at the MCG. As someone who is happily shit at maths, luckily I wasn’t speaking about revenue 😂 I spoke about mental health and resilience.

I haven’t done a lot of public speaking and it’s not easy to talk openly about what a mess I’ve been, but I am always happy to share my mental health experience in the hope it gives other people the courage to speak up.

The biggest thing I’ve ever done to improve my self-worth and mental health is to take responsibility for things that have happened in my life. To get out of that victim mentality.

Yes, people will always let you down and hurt you and shit things will always happen. But instead of blaming, look at your part in the situation. You can’t control what anyone else does, says or how they treat you, but you can control how you react and how you make changes and move forward. Once you take your power back, nothing can stop you.

The canola is out around where I live, beautiful St Arnaud, in the Wimmera Region of Victoria.

Devastatingly our region marked for wind turbines, transmission lines, battery farms and sand mines for renewables.

I’m not against renewables but when Australia is one of the world’s largest exporters of fossil fuels, yet not in the top 10 users, I struggle to understand how the destruction of our homes, prime farmland and wildlife habitats will make a difference when we continue to export. And the rush to do it is reckless. Please slow down and do this properly.

I’m not a farmer, but my life, like every single person in this country, relies on farmers. This will impact you, no matter where you live.

Keep speaking up. Your voice, no matter how big or small, can make change happen 💚

You definitely can ☺️ These snippets were taken on an iPhone 4K video setting. 4K quality is the same as you’ll get on most expensive cameras and most phones have this setting (give it a google about where to find it if you’re not sure). Yeah, the footage could be better on my camera, but would it make it more valuable to viewers? Not always.

Professional videos have their place but videos taken on a phone can be effective. They are real, raw, relatable.

Editing doesn’t have to be over the top, CapCut is a good app, or just use Insta / FB editing tools. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you practice. Sometimes just one plain, simple video with no editing is unreal.

In a world full of bullshit, most people just want real. Have fun and don’t take content creation too seriously ☺️
